Screen Share: CPA Experience

The screen-share function offers an option to work with clients remotely by viewing their screen in real time.

Setup

For security purposes, some firms want to control whether users can screen share with clients. System Admins can control this feature in Settings.

Enable or Disable Screen Share

  1. Navigate to Settings in the left panel.
  2. Click Security.
  3. Click the Enable Screen Share toggle to enable or disable screen sharing for all users in the firm.

Initiate the Screen Share

Note:

The client must be viewing their tax return in order to start the screen share. The client must initiate the process by clicking Share first. If not, an error message appears to the client stating "This link is invalid".

  1. Navigate to Delivered Returns.
  2. Click the Action(...) menu for the client's return.
  3. Click Screen Share and choose the return recipient you are screen sharing with.
  4. Provide the Code to the client
  5. Click Share after confirmation that the code has been input by the client and they have selected Share
    • The client is prompted to select the screen they want to share. Once they do this, you can see their screen.

A new browser tab opens with a blank screen, which fills with the client's screen share once it is connected. If the tax professional closes or refreshes, the link becomes disabled and the session ends.

When the client is finished, they can close the browser window or press the blue Stop Sharing button.
