CCH Axcess™ Integration

This article provides instructions on how CCH Axcess™ users can print a return directly to Returns.  The integration works with the 2022 tax year or later. All Current Supported Returns can be transmitted this way. 

Please note:

  • All CCH® users can see the Import CCH Axcess dashboard, but only users with the appropriate Role-Based Access permissions can import returns (Upload from CCH). The options are grayed out for users who do not have the appropriate permissions. 
  • Returns must conform to our print settings guidelines: Recommended Print Settings
Grant Users Permission in SafeSend

Administrators can create a User Group for the CCH Axcess™ integration and apply this permission to users. This will allow them to access the feature. 

Create User Group

  1. Click the Navigation Widget in the top right corner.
  2. Click Account Management.
  3. Click User Management in the left panel. 
  4. Click the User Groups tab.
  5. Click Add User Group
  6. Type a Name for the group. 
  7. Type a Description for the group. 
  8. Select the Tax Processing - Upload from CCH role. 
  9. Click Add Group.

Add Users to the Group

  1. Click the newly created Group in the left panel. 
  2. Drag and drop users from the Available Users column to the User in Group column. 
  3. Click Apply Changes.
Connect CCH Axcess™ and SafeSend

Link your CCH Axcess™ account with your SafeSend account. This allows your returns to be displayed in the Import CCH Axcess dashboard. 

Important

When a user connects CCH Axcess and SafeSend, all users with access to the Import CCH Axcess dashboard are able to view and import the returns regardless of who is logged in. Only 1 user can be logged in at a time. 

Please note:

Only System Administrators have access to the Settings section.

  1. Click the Navigation Widget in the top right corner.
  2. Click Suite Settings.
  3. Click General in the left panel. 
  4. Click Login to CCH.
  5. Enter your Account Number
  6. Click Submit.                                                               
  7. Enter your User ID
  8. Enter your Password
  9. Enter the text shown
  10. Click Login.                                                                         
  11. Choose how you want to verify your identity. 
  12. Click Send the code.                 
  13. Enter the code. 
  14. Click Submit.                                                                 
  15. Click Allow to complete the connection.

You can now use the Import from CCH Axcess dashboard in Returns. 

Dashboard Overview

The following functions and features are available in the Import CCH Axcess dashboard. All 2022 tax year and older supported return types are displayed in the dashboard. 

Dashboard Features

  1. Click Get CCH Returns to refresh the queue and display all CCH Axcessreturns. 
    • If the return is already in the Import CCH Axcess dashboard, any changes/recalculations will override the existing entry. 
  2. Click Import to Safsend to move selected returns to your Send Tax Returns queue. 
  3. Click the Delete icon to delete the selected return(s) from the import dashboard. 
  4. Click Refresh to re-load your queue after applying or removing filters. 
  5. View the connection status and currently logged-in user. 
  6. Search or filter using column headers
    • Highlighted columns are pulled from CCH Axcess.
  7. Search or filter by Import Status
  8. Click Sync Return to resend the return to your Send Tax Returns dashboard.
    • This option is only available if the Import Status is Completed
    • This does not override a recalled return; it is treated as a new upload.

Get CCH Returns

Use the Get CCH Returns option to send returns from your Tax Dashboard to the Returns import dashboard. You can choose which returns to pull into the Returns import dashboard using filters. Newly added returns are re-calculated upon import. 

  1. Click Get CCH Returns
  2. Select a Tax Year filter. 
  3. Click Add New Filter to apply additional filters (optional).
  4. Select the new Filter.
  5. Select a Value for that filter.
  6. Click Apply to get the returns.
Import Returns

There are 2 options to import returns. Follow the steps below to send returns from the import dashboard to your Send Tax Returns queue. 

Import New Returns

  1. Select one or more returns in a New Import Status. 
  2. Click Import to Safesend.                                                               

Import Completed Returns

  1. Locate a return in a Completed Status. 
  2. Click the Sync Return button to re-send it to your Send Tax Returns queue.                                                             

Import Statuses 

This status indicates whether or not the return has been sent to your Send Tax Returns dashboard. 

  • New - The return has been pulled from CCH Axcess™ but has not been sent to your Send Tax Returns dashboard. 
  • Completed - The return has been successfully sent to your Send Tax Returns dashboard. 
  • In Progress - The return is being sent to your Send Tax Returns dashboard but has not yet finished loading. 
    • Depending on how many returns are imported at once, this process can take time to complete. 
    • Feel free to navigate away from the page as the returns are being imported. 
  • Failed - The return could not be imported to your Send Tax Returns dashboard.

Please note:

To help prevent Failed import statuses: 

  • Do not password protect returns in CCH Axcess
  • Do not log out during imports. 
  • Make sure no other users are trying to sign in to the integration. 
  • Do not edit or move returns in CCH Axcess during imports.
