Signer Delegation allows a return receipt to grant signing responsibility to a third party. This will send a separate access email to the selected party, and they will have to pass authentication in order to sign.
Enabling Signer Delegation
- A System Admin will need to login into SafeSend Returns and navigate to the Settings icon.
- Navigate to Settings.
- Click on E-Sign Options.
- Under Signer Delegation, choose which return types should have Signer Delegation enabled and toggle those to ON.
- Click Apply.
- If System Admins do not click Apply, the settings will not be saved.

Once Signer Delegation is enabled, you may enable KBA (Knowledge-Based Authentication) for delegated signers. This is what is recommended.

- Click on E-Sign Options.
- Under 1040 Knowledge Based Authentication, you will select Use Knowledge-Based Authentication to initiate the Signing Process for delegated signers..
- Click Apply.
- If System Admins do not click Apply, the settings will not be saved.
