Setting up TaxCaddy™ and SafeSend Returns Handshake

The firm has the option to enable the TaxCaddy integration to deliver signed returns to the client's TaxCaddy account or prompt the client to sign in TaxCaddy™ instead of SafeSend Returns. 

Important

The TaxCaddy integration is only available for 1040 returns. 

Inside TaxCaddy 

  1. Login to SurePrep®.
  2. Navigate to TaxCaddy.
  3. Click on the Administrative tab.
  4. Click External Connections.
  5. Click Generate if no key is listed.

  • Click Copy.

Inside of SafeSend Returns

  1. Select Settings on the left-hand navigation panel.
  2. Select General from the Settings list.
  3. Switch the TaxCaddy toggle to On.
  4. Paste the copied API Key into the Firm Keys field.
  5. Select Request E-Signatures in TaxCaddy instead of SafeSend Returns to use TaxCaddy to request and receive E-Signatures.
  6. Select Bypass manual verification if there is an exact match of the taxpayer SSN to automatically approve Taxpayer verification if there is a match from SafeSend Returns in TaxCaddy.
  7. Click Save.
